Utah Judge Resigns Over Messy Bizness, Redistricting Shady Too?
Justice Diana Hagen dipped after folks found out 'bout somethin' goin' on with a lawyer – folks in the hood tryna figure out if it's connected to voter suppression, fr fr.

Aight, so peep this: Utah Supreme Court Justice Diana Hagen just bounced outta her gig. Word on the streets is she was gettin' a lil' too close to a lawyer who was dealin' with redistricting stuff. Her ex-man snitched, sayin' she was sendin' him sus texts. Now, folks in the hood, we ain't dumb. We know somethin' ain't always what it seems.
She wrote a letter to the governor, Spencer Cox, soundin' all sad, talkin' 'bout how her fam didn't sign up for this. But check it, when you in a position of power, you gotta hold yourself to a higher standard. That's just how it is. Public figures gotta hold it down. No exceptions.
"As a public servant for twenty-six years, I am keenly aware that public service requires sacrifice," Hagen wrote. "I have willingly accepted those sacrifices for the privilege of holding a position of public trust, where I could do my part to uphold the rule of law and protect the constitutional rights of every Utahn."
She added, "I also understand that public officials are rightly held to a higher standard and must accept a greater degree of public scrutiny and diminished privacy. But my family and friends did not choose public life. They do not deserve to have intensely personal details surrounding the painful dissolution of my thirty-year marriage subjected to public scrutiny."
Now, here's where it gets real. This lawyer, David Reymann, was fightin' against a map that was basically rigged to keep Republicans in power. In the Black community, we been seein' this kinda mess for generations: gerrymandering, voter ID laws, all designed to keep us from havin' a real voice. If you ain't hip to it, you need to wake up.
Hagen and Reymann say they ain't doin' nothin' wrong. But come on, fam. We see how these things go down. It’s a lil’ fishy.
The system ain't built for us, and we know it. Even if this ain't directly about voter suppression, it's another reminder that the people in power ain't always lookin' out for us. And our communities pay the price.
She had recused herself from certain cases, but you gotta still ask yourself, did her opinions or knowledge affect other people? What kinda stuff did she learn when she was still involved? We need more transparency.
Real talk, this ain't just about some messy relationship. It's about power, corruption, and whether the system is really fair to everyone. Folks in the hood gotta stay woke and keep fightin' for our rights. We gotta make sure our voices are heard, no matter what. We gotta come together and shut it down.
We gotta protect our voting rights. Black and Brown folk need to band together and protect each other and our access to the polls.
We been through way worse. We gonna get through this too. Keep your head up and keep pushin'. And remember, power to the people, always.
They wanna see us divided. If we stand together, we can't be defeated. This is what we gotta remember every single day.
This whole situation kinda feel like that episode of The Wire when Stringer Bell gets played. They get you one way or another.
